the past 3 days have passed by in a flash, all thanks to work and my after work social life :)can't say i'm happy with my job, but at least it'd look good on my resume and i get the relevant working experience
unfortunately it's also making me unsure of what i really want in a career
cos i certainly don't want to sit down 5 days a week for 8 hours each time in front of a computer typing out random digits...
and there's still OT and office politics to deal with.
i don't wanna be one of those people who're stuck in the same office cubicle for like what.. 30 years?
so far what i've been made to do is basic accounting and closing accounts and IT REALLY SUCKS
for one, the figures NEVER balance
and though i just learnt closing yesterday, i hate it to the max already.
cos of it, i did 1 hour of OT and got a headache
stupid 6000 and 3000 refund took me, my mentor and my boss 1.5 hours to figure out
in the end we 做假账！
haha okay not really la... but when i saw the kind of exhilaration my boss got from figuring out, i got scared.
cos i don't think i'd ever be able to feel so happy about "putting the pieces of a numerical puzzle together"
heck, i don't think i'd even be able to do it
oh! on sunday it was family day and my mom got half price tickets to the singapore flyer
which came with free coupons for a 2 piece meal at popeye's chicken and biscuits which is at the singapore flyer itself
so we ended up queuing for 1 hour just to get our free meal
and didn't finish 2 boxes worth of the chicken
the flyer was pretty boring, it moves so slowly that it takes more than half an hour to go sucha small round
and not like there's any scenery in singapore
at one point my mom was like "EH!! see the esplanade!!!" and i replied "you never see esplanade before arh"
i think the flyer's more suitable for couples who're sick of shopping and don't mind spending extravagantly on their dates.
on monday i met meifang for dinner! healthy subway but we choose the most unhealthy thing on the menu - subway melt :)
and i bought my fcuk teee! :) :) my first purchase in a long long timeee
that swallowed my first day's pay though but who caressss
as mr xqg always tells me 开心就好:)
it was supposed to be a shopping trip for mf and i but she didn't buy a single thing
we were so desperate to buy smth that we went into dorothy perkins, tried on some white tank top and decided that we look too fat in it, no matter how cheap it is
and on tuesday, i met my pastor for dinner at crystal jade kitchen
i gave her a treat cos she's been paying for meals all the time
and even then it was so friggin hard to convince her to let me treat
esp since my visa had no money and i didn't have cash
so i ended up going to an atm to withdraw money
which was soooo damn embarrassing :(
QAD came over after that and we nicked my parents' car to get prata!
that's when my perfect day ended.
when he was trying to start the engine to get home, he forced the card in and it got stuck
so obviously i tried to take it out with my ultra long finger nails
but i ended up pushing it in even further
thank God we managed to make it home even though the key card was stuck
and at home, my dad, him and i spent almost an hour trying to wrench the card out
but it didn't work so we had to send the car for repair
damn terrible right, first time drive my parents car already then screw it up so badly!
yesterday was uni tutorial class day!
dinner at shokudo :) attendance was damn goooood. 12 people!
but we always have a problem after dinner with big groups
cos we end up walking around aimlessly, can't shop, don't wanna watch movie... only thing to do is sit somewhere else and talk cock
so we ended up at starbucks. 10 people and 1 drink.
TODAY I DIDN'T GO TO WORK!
feels like a bloody holiday man
i woke up at 9 to call my boss, only to realise that the number i'd been given
is those "press 1 for ..." and so i pressed 8 for corporate finance and got THE ANSWERING MACHINE
ended up calling my mom's friend who yelled at her secretary to get me the number while asking me politely on the phone how work had been for me.
so i called my supervisor with the number, ONLY TO REALISE THAT SHE TOLD ME YESTERDAY THAT SHE'D BE ON LEAVE TODAY
got really desperate and called the number on my employment contract
and guess who i got? GLENEAGLES HOSPITAL
oh yea for those who didn't know, i'm working at parkway medical holdings which is the company that owns eastshore hospital, mt alvernia, gleneagles and i don'tknowwhatelse
woman who picked up the phone: you want the number for what?!
me: err, the finance department
woman: who're you looking for?
me: errr, i'm actually working in the finance department and i'm sick today so i need to report sick.
woman: why dont you have ur own department's number?
me: cos i just started working only
and with that i convinced her to give me the number of my 2nd supervisor.
haha i'm such a nonghead i know!
